Animal Care Services is located at 4710 Highway 151 San Antonio, Texas 78227.The shelter is located at Highway 151 and Old Highway 90 near the San Antonio Food Bank.

Hours of Operation 
Monday - Friday: 11:00 am - 7:00 pm
Saturday/Sunday: 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Animal Care Services will investigate the following:

  • Stray Animals
  • Injured Animals
  • Aggressive Animals
  • Trapped Animals
  • Owned Loose Animals
  • Cruelty to Animals
  • Animal Bites

Animal Care Services accepts walk-ins for adoptions. Appointments must be made for owner surrender and microchip services. Due to space restraints, healthy stray animals are not accepted over the counter. Animal Care Services does not pick up or provide traps used to catch wildlife. Animal Care Services will respond for animal bites, if bitten or scratched by one of the following high risk animals: raccoon, skunk, fox, coyote, or bat. Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation assists primarily with injured/sick/orphaned animals. They can be contacted as a resource for humane ways to either live with or deter wild animals. They are located at 1354 Basse Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78212. You may contact Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation by calling (830) 336-2725. The hotline is available 24 hours a day.

To request a city service call 311 Customer Service at 3-1-1 or 210-207-6000. 311 is available seven days a week from 7am-7pm and on holidays from 8am-5pm.

For County Animal Control, please call (210) 335-9000. Animal cruelty in unincorporated areas will continue to be addressed by the County Sheriff's Office at (210) 335-6000 Option 1.

The (210) 207-4PET or (210) 207-4738 line options are as follows:

  • Option 1- Animal bite, loose animal, suspected animal cruelty or to request assistance from an Animal Care Officer
  • Option 2- Lost pet or are interested in adopting or fostering a pet
  • Option 3- Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR) or the Community Cat Program
  • Option 4- Rescue Partner or interested in becoming a Rescue Partner
