The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) implemented public access to sex offender registration (SOR) information within the State of Texas. This information is reported, collected, and disseminated pursuant to Chapter 62, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. The TxDPS is the designated repository of SOR information for the state. Offenders report to local criminal justice agencies which collect and submit registration information to the registry. The TxDPS does not separately confirm the accuracy of the reported information.
Convicted sex offenders living in Texas are required to register with local law enforcement agencies. Those living within San Antonio city limits are required to register with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
