The SAPD Financial Crimes Unit investigates:

• Forgeries
• Credit card abuse
• ID theft
• Misuse of government records
• Counterfeit U.S. Currency cases (in conjunction with the U.S. Secret Service)
• Embezzlement
• Elder fraud
• Intellectual property crimes (counterfeit merchandise)
• Misuse of litigation or public office (also known as barratry)
• Other complex financial crimes
