The San Antonio Park Police's primary duties are to preserve the peace, protect life and property, and to enforce the laws of Texas and San Antonio. Park police issue warnings, issue citations, make arrests, and investigate crimes from minor misdemeanors to serious felonies.

Park Police patrol more than 240 City parks, including swimming pools, community centers and sports & recreational facilities. In addition to providing proactive patrol of all facilities and properties in the park inventory, the Park Police also answer thousands of calls for service in the parks on an annual basis.

Park Police Officers are also assigned to an ATV Unit, Bike Unit, Community Education Unit, and River Walk Patrol.
