Home Rehabilitation Programs

Home rehab programs are offered to residents with low-to-moderate income. Repairs through our programs aim to address health, safety or code issues that homeowners may be experiencing. Applications for Minor Repair, Major Repair and Under 1 Roof open periodically.

The program helps with:

  • Major rehabilitation or reconstruction, which repairs two or more areas of a home’s system, such as the foundation, electrical, plumbing, heating and/or air conditioning, and structural issues.
  • Minor rehabilitation, which addresses an isolated issue, such as siding, walk-in showers, plumbing, window replacement, water heater replacement and painting.
  • Under 1 Roof, which provides roof shingle replacement with Shasta white shingles that improve a home’s energy efficiency.

The program assists with the following:

  • Electrical / Plumbing / Heating + Cooling
  • Foundation/Structural
  • Roof Shingle Replacement
  • Water Heater
  • Windows and Doors

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Reside in a single-family, detached home within the city of San Antonio
  • Applicants must establish home ownership interest
  • Income limitation of 80% or below of Area Median Income
  • Have a clear property title – lien issues and/or judgments less than $5,000 eligible. Child support or tax liens are ineligible.
  • Have an active Homestead Exemption with Bexar County Appraisal District
  • Major Rehab projects require homeowner to be current on property tax payments.
  • Reverse mortgages not eligible
  • Proof of Homeowner/Fire Insurance
