The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) has several locations across the city to assist with FREE tax preparation service for individuals and families who earn up to $60,000 per year. You may contact United Way regarding VITA by calling (210) 227-4357 or 2-1-1. VITA is a city-wide effort to help low to moderate income taxpayers properly claim tax credits. Trained and certified volunteers work with families to file tax returns with refunds electronically deposited within 10-14 business days on average.
VITA has year-round offices that offer a variety of services at the Guadalupe Community Center and Willie Velasquez Center. View more information including the hours of operation here.
VITA San Antonio and River City FCU are excited to offer a low-cost loans (Refund Anticipation Loans or RAL) for taxpayers who may need to access their refunds quickly to assist with household needs. This program is available at the Neighborhood Place, the Presa Community Center and the Guadalupe Community Center.
