988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

988 is now active across the United States. This new, shorter phone number will make it easier for people to remember and access mental health crisis services. Please note, the previous 1-800-273-TALK (8255) number will continue to function indefinitely.

The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is a 24-hour free service which offers confidential support for people in distress, as well as prevention and crisis resources.

You can reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988 or using the chat box at 988lifeline.org. You can also text “MHA” to 741-741 to reach the Crisis Text Line.
