Smoking Ordinance

Smoking is prohibited in all enclosed public places within the city of San Antonio. Smoking is prohibited outdoors at the San Antonio Zoo, all outdoor sports arenas, stadiums and amphitheaters, all pavilions and playgrounds in city-owned parks, and within 20 feet of all outdoor public transportation stations/platforms.

There are exceptions to public smoking areas including: hotel and motel rooms designated as smoking rooms, outdoor areas not listed above, outdoor seating areas of restaurants designated as smoking areas, private clubs, private residences, retail tobacco stores and tobacco product manufacturing facilities. Signs are required to designate non-smoking public areas or for exempt areas where smoking is allowed.

To report a violation of the Smoking Ordinance, please contact the 311 Call Center at 311 or (210) 207-6000. 311 is available seven days a week from 7am-7pm and from 8am-5pm on holidays.
