Homeless Outreach

The City of San Antonio Department of Human Services (DHS) Homeless Division provides street outreach engagement and service coordination for individuals and households experiencing homelessness.  This service request is used to report homeless individuals who may be in an encampment in the public right of way (street corner, under a city bridge, on private property), who appear to be in need of assistance and/or are lying down in the the public right of way (sidewalk, street corner). This service request will be investigated and addressed within 15 working days.

Homeless Outreach - individuals who may be in the public right of way (street corner, under a city bridge, on private property) who appear to be in need of assistance and/or lying down in the public right of way.

Homeless Encampments - individuals who may be experiencing homelessness and living in unsafe conditions including in the public right of way such as a street corner, under a city bridge, or in a public park. Homeless activity on private property or in an alley is handled by Development Services.

Encampment Abatement- The Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) supports the City's Human Services Department to abate encampments on public property.  Human Services will coordinate outreach services then work with SWMD to abate any remaining items.
