Covid-19 Vaccination

Saving...

Vaccinations: Children as young as 6 months are now eligible to be vaccinated. The Metro Health department will be providing the vaccines to children in this age group at their Pop Up Clinics and the City’s Metro Health Immunization clinic at 210 Mel Waiters way. Please call 210-207-8894 to make an appointment.

The Pop Up Clinics can be found at https://covid19.sanantonio.gov/What-YOU-Can-Do/Vaccination. Scroll down to view the Pop Up Clinics Event Locator – English so you can view them on the map and make sure they are the clinics “Hosted by:  Metro Health”.  There is no charge for the vaccine or administration at Metro Health Pop-up clinics. You do NOT need health insurance.

People can get vaccinated at doctor’s offices, pharmacies, hospitals and other “usual” sites. Search for a vaccine pop-up clinic near you.

Fully vaccinated: Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after the single-dose J&J/Janssen vaccine. Also, when you have received all doses in the primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine and all boosters recommended for you, when eligible.

  • The City’s Pop Up clinics do provide vaccines to individuals who do not have insurance or those that have insurance but do not cover the COVID vaccine. Individuals with insurance will be referred to their healthcare provider or a pharmacy covered by their insurance.
  • Residents can also find vaccine locations at vaccines.gov. The website provides a listing by zip code of where residents can find the COVID vaccine.
  • If residents don’t have insurance and cannot get to the Pop Up Clinics, they can access the Bridge Access Program, listed on the website (vaccines.gov) which lists various pharmacies that accept individuals who do not have insurance.  Residents need to go online to register for an appointment at the pharmacies and through the registration process, they select that they don’t have insurance and they can use the Bridge Access Program to get the COVID vaccine. The Bridge Access Program makes the vaccine available at no cost to the individuals without insurance.
  • There is no reporting requirement for residents who take home tests.  Metro Health is not tracking home test results.
  • COVID tests can be ordered online at https://www.covid.gov/tests
