Black Maternal Mental Health Week is April 11 through April 17. Forty percent of Black women experience maternal mental health symptoms, which is almost twice the rate of all other women. These symptoms include:
- depression
- anxiety
- substance use disorders
Metro Health strives to create awareness of maternal mental health issues.
Maternal mental health is a mother's general emotional, social, and mental well-being, both during and after pregnancy. Healthy moms give birth to healthy babies!
The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is free, confidential, and here to help, 24/7.
