Upcoming Projects: Blanco Road / Pleasanton Road
The Blanco Road Safety Improvements project is scheduled to begin on June 23, 2025, with completion expected by late August 2025, weather permitting. This project is focused on improving safety for all road users with a particular focus on pedestrians.
Project Overview
- The construction of a mid-block crosswalk equipped with warning beacons along Blanco Road between Parliament Drive and West Avenue. This crosswalk will provide a safer, more visible crossing point for pedestrians.
- Additionally, the existing marked median on Blanco Road, south of West Avenue, will be replaced with a raised concrete median.
Why This Project Matters
These improvements are part of Vision Zero SA, a city-wide initiative aimed at eliminating traffic related fatalities and serious injuries. Blanco Road, particularly between Parliament Drive and Patricia Drive, has been identified as a High Injury Network due to the high number of pedestrian crashes and fatalities in this area. By implementing this project, we hope to make our roads safer for everyone.
What’s Next?
Construction will take place during daytime hours, starting June 23, 2025 and continuing through late August 2025, weather permitting. While traffic delays are expected, at least one lane in each direction will remain open throughout the project to minimize impacts.
