Birth Certificates

The Office of the City Clerk sells long form birth certificates for individuals born in Bexar County, abstract birth certificates for individuals born in the state of Texas. To obtain a birth or death certificate, you must be a qualified applicant such as the registrant, an immediate family either by blood or marriage, or the legal guardian or agent. You must know the exact date of birth. The fee for Birth Certificates is $23.00 per copy.

Please note, the option to check in online is no longer available. Please check in once you get to the facility. 

The Vital Records office is located at 719 S. Santa Rosa Street, San Antonio Texas 78204. The lobby is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, although they may shut down the line early if the demand and wait time gets too long. Also, please note that that the Office of the City Clerk Divisions do not open until 10 am on the 4^th Tuesday of each month due to training requirements. For corrections to Birth Certificates: The City cannot make corrections to birth or death certificates. The State of Texas Vital Statistics office handles corrections, name changes, amendments, adoptions, delayed records or orders for birth certificates.  Please contact the Vital Statistics State office at 888-963-7111.

Please note - at this time, birth certificates cannot be obtained at the San Antonio Public Libraries. There is no date when the service will be restored.
