Injured/Sick Animals

Saving...

Animal Care Services has a commitment to provide a high priority response to calls in which a roaming animal has been observed to have significant injuries that are observed by the complainant.  Most common examples of this call type will be an animal hit by car, an animal with broken bones or open wounds and/or noted difficulty walking/standing. Owned animals that are sick or injured and on their owner's property, should be reported as Neglect. Officers will arrive at the location and make every attempt to locate and capture the animal.  If the animal is unable to be captured, this call may be escalated to Sweeps or Traps Officers to aid in capture.  Upon capture the animal will immediately be treated by medical staff at ACS or an Animal Emergency room, if after hours. Calls may be forwarded to Cruelty Investigators if evidence indicates intentional or reckless behavior by a suspect that can be identified. The initial response for this service request type is 3 hours.
