Aggressive Animal

Saving...

Animal Care Services responds to calls when the caller is in immediate danger from an animal that is loose and actively attacking, growling or charging citizens. This call also includes situations where an animal to animal attack has occurred that results in death of an owned animal or cases where dogs have attacked and maimed or killed domesticated pets or livestock.

Animal Care Services has a commitment to promptly respond to critical calls where loose animals (owned or stray) are actively displaying aggression to citizens or has killed pets or livestock.  An Officer will make location to investigate if the offending animal is currently loose and attempt to capture and establish ownership.  If ownership is established, citations will be issued to the owner and the case will be documented.  Notices of Violation and Educational resources will be provided and followed up on to maintain the animal on property.  If the investigation reveals the citizen or their domesticated pet have been subject to attack and is willing to file a sworn affidavit, Officers will inform complainants of the Dangerous/Aggressive designation process to formally designate animals that meet the standards set forth in Texas Health & Safety Code and escalate the investigation to Dangerous investigators. Depending on a critical or non-critical report, the initial response for this service request type is either 12 hours or 5 days.
