The Bitters Brush Recycling Center is located at 1800 Wurzbach Parkway, San Antonio, Texas 78216 and is open Monday through Sunday from 8:00am-5:00pm. The Bitters Brush Recycling Center is for residential customers only. They no longer accept brush materials from commercial accounts. Please note, The Nelson Garden/Atlas Organics Brush Recycling Center is now managed and operated by Atlas Organics and not by the City of San Antonio.
City of San Antonio residents who pay the City's environmental fee will pay a residential rate. When visiting the Bitters brush site, residents need to bring a recent copy of their CPS Energy Bill and a photo I.D. Acceptable forms of payment include cash, credit card and check (with matching identification).
- Resident Fees: 20lbs or less -$0.25 Over 20lbs- $0.235 per each increment of 20 lbs.
- Non-Resident Fees: Less than 2,000 lbs.- $25.00 More than 2,000 lbs. - $25.00 plus $25.00 per each additional ton.
If you are using a city disposal or processing center, you must use a tarp to cover your vehicle. A $5 penalty will be assessed for customers not in compliance. Having brush bagged or tied down does not constitute as having a tarp.
Mulch is available at the Bitters Brush Recycling Center location for purchase at $0.03 (three cents) per pound in increments of twenty (20 pounds). Coarse mulch is also available and is free year-round. Christmas tree mulch will be available at the Bitters Brush Recycling Center in January for FREE while supplies last. Mulch is available for purchase for residents, non-residents and businesses. Loading of coarse ground and Christmas tree mulch is not provided.
The Nelson Garden/Atlas Organics Brush Recycling Center is now managed and operated by Atlas Organics. It is located at 8963 Nelson Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78252. They are open 8am-5pm, Monday thru Saturday and closed on Sundays. This facility does accept commercial loads. Their commercial rates have changed. Residents who take their CPS bill and matching ID will pay the residential rate. If not, then they will charge the commercial rate. The residential rate is for small loads, large loads are charged commercial rates even if they are residential. Please contact the facility directly for rates at (210) 319-0521.
